Diploma in Yoga Therapy (DYT)

1. Course Overview

Diploma in Yoga Therapy is a professional, one-year program designed to equip students with the skills to use Yoga as a therapeutic tool for the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of various health conditions. The program integrates traditional yogic principles with modern medical science to prepare graduates for work in clinical, community, and wellness settings.


2. Aim & Objectives

  • To impart in-depth knowledge of yogic techniques for therapeutic application.
  • To train students in disease-specific yoga therapy protocols.
  • To develop the ability to assess and design personalized yoga therapy plans.
  • To promote holistic healing by integrating mind-body practices.

3. Eligibility

  • Educational Qualification: 10+2 (Higher Secondary) pass; preference to graduates in Yoga, Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Physiotherapy, Nursing, or allied health sciences.
  • Medical Fitness: Candidate should be physically and mentally fit.
  • Age: 18–60 years.

4. Duration & Mode

  • Full-time: 1 year (2 semesters)
  • Part-time / Weekend: 12–18 months
  • Total Hours: ~900–1100 hours (theory + practical + internship)
  • Mode: Offline / Online / Blended

  2. Human Anatomy & Physiology for Therapists
    • Musculoskeletal system, nervous system, endocrine system
    • Pathophysiology basics for lifestyle disorders
  3. Yogic Physiology
    • Panchakosha model
    • Prana, Nadis, Chakras
    • Concept of Doshas & Dhatus (Ayurveda integration)
  4. Basic Yoga Practices
    • Therapeutically adapted asanas
    • Pranayama & relaxation techniques
    • Cleansing processes (Shatkriya)

Semester 2

  1. Yoga Therapy for Common Disorders
    • Musculoskeletal (back pain, arthritis, spondylosis)
    • Respiratory (asthma, sinusitis)
    • Cardiovascular (hypertension, ischemic heart disease)
    • Endocrine (diabetes, thyroid disorders)
    • Neurological & psychosomatic disorders
  2. Advanced Therapeutic Techniques
    • Mudras, Bandhas, advanced pranayama
    • Meditation & Yoga Nidra
    • Counselling skills for Yoga Therapists
  3. Research & Evidence-Based Practice
    • Overview of clinical research in Yoga Therapy
    • Documentation & case study preparation
  4. Internship & Practicum
    • 100–150 hours supervised clinical practice
